GREENSBORO, NC -- This Mother's Day, give a special mom in your life a gift that keeps on giving (because it gives back).
The Greensboro Urban Ministry's first Mother's Day Challenge is underway. The idea started when an anonymous donor approached the organization and said he/she would match up to $10,000 of a fundraising campaign.
Make a donation to the Greensboro Urban Ministry (GUM) now through Mother's Day, and an anonymous donor will match it up to $10,000. Mom will get a beautiful tribute card, letting her know you made the contribution in her honor.
To make a donation and get a card, stop by the GUM administrative office at 305 Gate City Boulevard during normal business hours, 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. Or, ORDER ONLINE (and Greensboro Urban Ministry will mail the card). Donations are tax-deductible.
Children in GUM's Partnership Village after-school program made the cards. Partnership Village is an apartment complex with supportive services for individuals and families who have experienced homelessness.
GUM's hoping the Mother's Day Challenge raises awareness about the organization's programs that help families -- including Partnership Village and also the Pathway Center, which is a shelter for families who have experienced homelessness.
