GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Guilford County Department of Public Health and a Greensboro clinic will offer a variety of free screenings Wednesday morning.
The free screenings event is at the Evans-Blount Community Health Center (partner of Carter Circle of Care) at 2031 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Greensboro from 9 a.m. to noon.
The screenings will include blood pressure and glucose exams conducted by student nurses and supervised by an on-site nurse practitioner. A podiatrist will conduct diabetic foot screenings to assess sores, proper circulation and proper nail care. The Sickle Cell Association's health educators will provide screenings for Sickle Cell Disease and various sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Nurses and doctors also will offer breast exams and will teach patients how to conduct self breast exams on a regular basis.
Individuals eligible to receive screenings must be age 18 or older. No proof of insurance or ID is required, but an ID and list of current and past medications are recommended.
