GREENSBORO, NC -- Calling all fashionistas! New York Fashion Week may be over, but Greensboro Fashion Week is just getting started!
and Downtown Greensboro is the place to be this week when it comes to the latest and greatest in fashion.
Giovanni Ramadani, Witneigh Davis, and Derwin Hargrave with Greensboro Fashion week joined Lauren Melvin on the Good Morning Show to talk about the events happening this week!
Greensboro Fashion Week (GSOFW) organizers say the chose Greensboro because fashion is a universal language that has the power to unify people from wildly different cultures and Greensboro represents 79 different countries and is home to locals that speak 100 different languages? At GSOFW, they want to EVERYONE to feel welcomed, feel beautiful, feel fashionable!
Welcoming everyone includes involving students at local universities. Students from seven colleges in the Triad area, will play parts in the show. From fashion designers at UNCG to volunteers at NC A&T to make-up artists at Elon; GSOFW encourages the networking and relationships between these students while also providing them the opportunity to gain fun, high-energy experience for their future careers.
Here's the lineup for the public: Friday is emerging designer night, Saturday will feature national brands and local boutiques, and Sunday is all about bridal!
One more quick thing that makes GSOFW unique is that it's not just about the fashion. There's also a charitable aspect. Some of the proceeds from events support the local charity Emily's Plea, which educates people about the dangers of drunk and distracted driving. Organizers say Emily's Plea exemplifies what responsible fun looks like and they can't imagine doing this show without also representing her pink stars and message.
All the GSOFW events will take place at 203 S. Elm Street in Greensboro. Doors open at 6:00 pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Doors open at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
