Greensboro Group Pedals To Raleigh For Bike To Work Day

Triad Bikers Put The Pedal To The Metal

GREENSBORO, NC -- Cyclists across the nation celebrate National Bike To Work Day on May 19th and one group in the Triad is putting the pedal to the metal - the bike pedal that is. Employees of SFW, a marketing company in Greensboro, will bike 91 miles to the company's office in Raleigh.

CEO Ged King encourages his employees to pedal to the office after he and his brother set out on a mission to get healthy seven years ago. Bike racks line the walls of the SFW office and bicycling magazines cover the tables. Most employees biked to work all week but the 91-mile trek was the perfect way to complete the week.

On the ride the group will total more than 2,000 miles and burn more than 74,000 calories. The group took off at 7:30 this morning with WFMY News 2's Maddie Gardner giving the countdown. Riders told Maddie they were nervous for the ride but they know it will be worth it.
