Greensboro, N.C. - They protect and serve and now you can add giving back to the Greensboro Police Department's list of community deeds.
The police department's Tyler's Locker has teamed up with The Ricky Proehl Foundation, P.O.W.E.R. of Play to collect sneakers for kids in need. Officer B.L. Harris joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show Wednesday to talk about the Kicks for Kids program.
"A lot of these kids don't have much," explained Officer Harris. "It's priceless to see the expressions on these kids faces when they get a pair of new or gently-used shoes."
You can donate sneakers by putting them in collection boxes in the following Greensboro locations:
Police Headquarters - 100 Police Plaza
Southern Division - 2602 S. Elm/Eugene St.
Western Division - 300 S. Swing Rd.
