WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - You already did your shopping for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
You don't want to forget about Giving Tuesday.
It's a global campaign geared towards encouraging people around the world to give and donate to nonprofits and organizations.
HanesBrands, headquartered in Winston-Salem, is getting into the giving spirit.
HanesBrands plans on celebrating Giving Tuesday by donating 10,000 pairs of socks and 2,000 pairs of underwear to help the homeless.
"Giving Tuesday is an important day to roll up our sleeves to help our neighbors and fellow community members and to raise awareness about issues in our community that we address throughout the year," said HanesBrands CEO Gerald W. Evans Jr. "My team and I hope to bring some comfort to those who are experiencing tough times by sharing socks, underwear and fleece."
The donations will be sent to Bethesda Center, Salvation Army, Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, and Samaritan Ministries.
Each human services agency will receive 2,500 pairs of socks and 500 pairs of underwear to give to the homeless.
The donation is to help kickoff HanesBrands' annual holiday sock drive initiative.
For the national sock drive, Hanes has donated 225,000 pairs of socks and 18,000 pairs of underwear to approximately 30 human services organizations fighting homelessness across the United States.
Since the program's inception in 2009, the brand has provided more than 2 million pairs of socks to help people experiencing homelessness.
