We’ve heard from many people say that they’re scared to go outside or to public events because of the continuous tragedies at public places, like the Las Vegas mass shooting.
You might be fearful of recurring shootings at other public events. How do you live life without paralyzing fear?
My philosophy is to live your life while proceeding with caution. Like a yellow light in a stoplight. You slow down, you’re careful and you continue to move forward. The same with your life; proceed with caution. This means that you make safe choices as you continue to live. No hiding. No running. Just living.
Before you decide not to go to another concert in your life, think about what scares you in your life. Find solutions to your worries, for example if you're worried about security at a public event, you can talk with security.
Once you make a decision to do something that scares you, you still might not follow through. Remember that fear is a state of mind. You’re allowing fear to take up a lot of real estate in your mind and in your emotions. No matter how much you think something through, you can’t control everything or know how something will turn out. Make the best decision and just do it. Force yourself to do it. Research shows that to conquer fear you have to do what scares you. So do it.
