GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can laugh your heart out with a purpose tonight. Greensboro comedian Tim Shropshire is on tour with Grammy-nominated artist John P. Kee for the Change the World Tour and he's taking much-needed supplies with him to Texas.
Shropshire's 26 stop national tour includes Houston and Beaumont, Texas where he will distribute donations to the areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
"We are spending two days there on the ground, working with the people, loving on the people. We're going to make sure they're eating good and they have plenty of supplies and cleaning supplies," Shropshire.
For the last month, volunteers have been collecting items at John P. Kee's Charlotte church. They've collected bottled water, food, clothes and other items to help in the relief effort. Next week on October 8-9 they'll unload the 18-wheeler full of supplies to get them to those most in need.
The tour also plans to make people smile with free concerts in Houston and in Beaumont so the people who live there and who have lost everything can take a break from the cleanup to have fun.
"It's called a night of healing and a night of hope. Any time a catastrophic event such as Hurricane Harvey, it leaves a scar on you. Months later, you still have to go to a home that has mold in it. You're still effected. We just want them to know that we love them, here in North Carolina as well," said Shropshire.
Preferred seating is $30 and general admission is $20. Don't forget to bring your donations for Hurricane Harvey relief to the show.
