Greensboro, N.C. -- Most teenagers spend their summer break staying up late and sleeping until Noon.
But a Southeast Guilford High School sophomore saw a need to help feed the hungry and decided to take action.
Kiersten Cook is heading up a three day food drive at the 2014 Greensboro City Championship Meet July 10-12, 2014.
She recruited her Southeast Swim Team pals to collect donations during the tournament being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
"I don't want anyone to go hungry," said Cook.
She pointed to the drop-off in donations food banks typically experience during the summer months; a time when the need is even greater.
Cook and teammate Anna Page Daniel are just part of the Greensboro Community Swim Association which has 2,500 local members.
"We know how supportive the Greensboro swimming community is and how they always come out to support. And we know they will bring donations to help out."
All donations will be given to the Greensboro Urban Ministry. To find a list of the food bank's most needed items, click here.
You can help Cook and the Southeast Swim Team 'Drown Out Hunger One Stroke Out A Time' from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 10th through Saturday, July 12th. Just bring your food donations to the 2014 City Championships.
