NC DOT Forewarns Drivers of Foggy, Wet Roads

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Scattered thunderstorms and heavy fog Wednesday morning created hazardous road conditions for drivers, and NC DOT is warning of an increasing danger later in the day if the weather worsens.

Despite the conditions, DOT recorded and responded to only a handful of minor accidents early Wednesday. But, Transportation Management Center supervisor Skyler Hubbard warned, "This morning has given us a false sense of confidence, but don't let that fool you. This is going to be an ugly, ugly system later today."

Hubbard said DOT is anticipating the threat for severe weather forecast for Wednesday afternoon. "DOT is prepared, we're ready, we're going to be responding to everything as it comes up."

Hubbard advised drivers to dial *HP, if they are in need of immediate assistance. To ensure efficient accident response time, DOT said IMAP crews will be out on normal routes, and Transportation Management Center employees will be closely watching traffic cameras on all major Triad roadways.
