Greensboro, N.C. -- The People & Paws 4 Hope program goes far beyond rescuing dogs and finding them good homes. The program pairs at-risk youth with at-risk and homeless dogs in an effort to keep area-youth out of trouble and pets out of the shelter.
Frankie Heath has worked with the People & Paws 4 Hope program from the start. "In three years, the organization has transformed 80 at-risk youth and given countless dogs new life," said Heath.
"The Second Chance program is an intervention that provides court-ordered community service option for juveniles who want to train a rescue dog for adoption," said Heath. The program, she says, makes the community better.
The program interrupts the cycle where youth turn to drugs or gangs and eventually end up jail. "It's an asset to Guilford County."
You can help support this program by donating goods for the People & Paws 4 Hope Wine Tasting and Music event on Sunday, July 13, 2014. The organization is seeking donations for the silent auction which will benefit the Second Chance program for at-risk youth and at-risk Guilford County shelter dogs.
The event will take place at the Grove Winery in Gibsonville.
Heath will make arrangements to pick up donated items if need be.
