Power Foods That Lower Your Blood Pressure

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Here's a health tip that could save your life. You might take pills to manage your blood pressure or go to the doctor's office, but did you know food can serve as medication too.

Onions, garlic and ginger are just some of the foods that can naturally decrease and manage your blood pressure.

Dr. Inetta Cooper's a holistic chef and specializes in natural ways to help people live a healthier life.

"Onions and garlic help to clean out all of the toxins and impurities in your body because as the day goes on we eat a lot of things that aren't good for our health," said Cooper.

"One of the troubling issues in our community happens to be blood pressure and not knowing our numbers can lead to devastating effects of disease, heart conditions and other diseases," said Rev. William Wright, Pastor of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro.

Dr. Cooper and Pastor Wright hope you'll roll up your sleeves and join them at a free event Thursday, May 7, 2015.

There will be free blood pressure screenings a holistic food demonstration, door prizes and healthy snacks.

It's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Evans Blount Healthcare located at 2031 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greensboro.
