GREENSBORO, NC -- The stage is set for the highly-anticipated Rock the Runway fashion show, and organizers will reveal this year's designers exclusively on WFMY News 2's Good Morning Show Thursday.
Save the date for the evening of February 24, 2017. The show will take place in the Empire Room at the Elm Street Center, located on Elm Street in downtown Greensboro.
The show features seven community designers, who transform used clothes from Triad Goodwill into high-fashion looks. Proceeds from the event help fund Triad Goodwill's employment programs.
Among last year's designers, Cheslie Kryst clinched the Audience Choice Award for her entire collection. Robin Otis-Clayborne won the News & Record’s Unconventional Material Challenge for her butterfly paper dress. Brian Atkins won the Judges’ Choice Award for his collection’s originality, construction and material creativity.
Tickets are already on sale for this year's event. Watch the Good Morning Show Thursday for the designer announcement! Of the new dewsigners, four are UNCG CARS students, one is an Army Veteran and two are professionals. One is a war refugee from Liberia and was adopted here by her foster parents.
