WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Thirty cars in thirty days. Can the Salvation Army do it? With your help, the answer is always yes!
The organization is teaming up with local Ford dealers to collect 30 cars in the month of July for its "30 Cars in 30 Days" campaign.
Major Don Vick, the Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Greensboro says there's a decline in donations during the summer months. "We want to give people the perks about car donation. So, it's tax deductible. Once we sell the car, the owner will get a slip in the mail plus what's a clunker to you is gold to us because we can use that money to help people."
Proceeds from the donated vehicles will help fund programs and services The Salvation Army provides to the community.
"You can help be the light at the end of someone's long road by donating a car to our 30 Cars in 30 Days Campaign", said Major James Allison, Area Commander for The Salvation Army.
Here's how your donation can help your community through The Salvation Army.
-$500 can help 5 individuals or families keep the lights on in their home for a month through The Salvation Army's Emergency Assistance program.
-$900 can provide 3 hot meals for a week to all of the children living at the Center of Hope Family Shelter.
-$1,400 can send 17 children to summer day camp for a week at our Boys & Girls Club this summer.
-$2,000 can provide 160 nights of shelter for someone experiencing homelessness at The Salvation Army Center of Hope Family Shelter.
You can donate a car throughout the month of July at any participating Triad-area Ford dealership.
All donations are tax-deductible.
Boats and RV's are also accepted.
