Greensboro, N.C. -- Have you ever seen the movie "Yes Man" starring Jim Carrey? In the movie, Carrey's character basically finds a new life for himself just by saying "yes" to everything. While I'm not saying "yes" to everything, I am saying "yes" to living in the moment as I'm on a journey to lose 100 lbs.
Often times we shut the door to the world of fitness and shortchange ourselves from the activities that we could really enjoy because we're too afraid to try it out for ourselves. I've done this time and time again but now I have a new attitude when it comes to trying these activities, I'm saying "yes." I've decided if someone asks me to go to a fitness class I'm going to say "yes" because well, you just never know what it could lead to on down the road.
On Saturday, I took up an offer from a WFMY News 2 Producer and a WFMY Manager (my boss!) to try out boot camp. I was scared about what that one hour would hold for me but I'm glad I said, "yes." I hula-hooped with the best of them, did little relay style runs, and challenged myself to get uncomfortable for a change! Although I'm a little sore from all that action I'm proud that I took someone up on an offer, stepped out of my comfort zone, put aside all my body image issues, and worked on the one thing I want most: to lose 100 lbs. and I'm getting closer to that goal with every "yes."
