WINSTON-SALEM -- Two of Winston-Salem's most popular children's destinations are uniting to give kids an opportunity to learn, play and create!
SciWorks and the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem have officially merged.
For now, the two museums will stay in their respective buildings. Directors are looking to combine museum operations into a single, larger building in downtown Winston-Salem.
By combining resources, the organizations say they will be able to reduce costs, offer better visitor access, expand educational programming and better pursue a combined mission: "Inspiring wonder, curiosity, and lifelong learning in our children and community through interactive play and discovery."
The museums will celebrate the merger on Saturday, July 16 with a progressive party.
The festivities begin at the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem where attendees can enjoy special activities, crafts and more from 10 am to 1 pm.
Then, the celebration will move to SciWorks from 1 pm to 4 pm. Kids and adults can participate in science experiments and activities.
