Greensboro Gold Star Mom Honored With KIA Flag

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A Greensboro mother whose son died during combat was honored Tuesday night.

Members of the New Garden Moose Lodge presented Debbie Halstead with a Killed In Action (KIA) flag during a cookout.

Sgt. Nicholas Gibbs, Halstead's son, was killed in 2006 while serving in Iraq.

Halstead became a Gold Star Mother because of her son's sacrifice. The Gold Star Mothers is a national organization of moms whose children died while they serving their country.
