GREENSBORO, NC - Greensboro Police say a driver lost control and crashed her vehicle on I-85 Sunday night. The crash killed a passenger and left the driver and another passenger hospitalized.
Police say 42-year-old Eden Amick, of Archdale, was operating her 2001 Ford Explorer north on I-85 when she lost control of her vehicle and the vehicle overturned several times. Amick suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Moses Cone Hospital. The front right passenger, 61-year-old Donna Howell, of High Point, died as a result of the injuries she suffered from the crash. The back right passenger, a juvenile, was transported to Moses Cone Hospital with minor injuries.
I-85 North was closed down for a short time, but has since been re-opened.
Police charged Amick with failure to maintain her lane of travel and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting the on-going and active investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Greensboro Police Department.
