High Point Man Shot, Killed After Apartment Broken Into: Police

HIGH POINT, NC - High Point's 2017 homicide total grew to 17 Saturday night after a 40-year-old man was shot and killed when two armed suspects broke into his home.

Simmie J. Bethea died around 11:30 from being shot in the hand and stomach. Bethea was near his apartment on the 2400 block of Tyson Street when he was shot. The suspects forced their way into the home to try and rob Bethea. After the robbery, Bethea followed them into the parking lot where he was shot. He then went back to his apartment and called police. 

He was taken to High Point Regional Hospital before he died.
