Inmate Becomes Unresponsive, Dies At Forsyth County Jail: Sheriff

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- An inmate at Forsyth County Jail died early Tuesday morning after officials say he had a medical episode and became unresponsive. 

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of 39-year-old Deshawn Lamont Coley. 

According to a release, medics performed CPR, but could not save Coley's life. 

His body was transported for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for a postmortem examination. 

NC SBI is conducting an independent investigation. 

Coley was sentenced to jail for six months for a DWI conviction on April 20.
