GREENSBORO, N.C -- Mothers and daughters in the Triad enjoyed tea and a fashion show while raising awareness about heart disease.
WFMY News 2's Jackie Fernandez emceed the sit-down, afternoon tea and fashion show.
Cheryl Hancock is the event founder and she organized it with her family in mind.
The event brought together mothers and daughters of all ages for a fun afternoon of learning.
"< I was driving home work and I heard the song from Martina McBride 'In My Daughter's Eyes' and I just realized that I'm doing this for them but I'm not including them in this." Hancock said. "The purpose of today's tea is to bring mothers, daughters, aunts and nieces, cousins together to create a commitment to live a heart healthy life together."
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Nearly 1 out of every 3 women die each year from heart disease.
