Jewelry Store Robber Facing More Charges After Funeral Home Break-In

WENTWORTH, N.C. – A man who was arrested for driving into Eden Jewelry and stealing several items is now facing several other charges.

The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office says Tony Dean Smith Jr. of Eden was arrested Tuesday after the crime was captured on surveillance video inside the business.

Detective Ray Joyce says Smith is facing charges of Felony Breaking and Entering of Colonial Funeral Home located at 127 Ellisboro Road in Madison. He is also facing charges of Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Felony Possession of Stolen Goods, Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, and Injury to Real Property.

Detective Joyce told WFMY News 2 he believes the funeral home was broken into early Tuesday morning.

Smith has been placed under an additional $400,000 secured bond and returned to Rockingham County Jail after the new warrants were served.
