Krispy Kreme No Longer Making Doughnuts On-Site at High Point Store

Starting this week, the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop on N. Main Street in High Point no longer produces its trademark treat in-house.

Krispy Kreme Corporate Communications Coordinator Sarah Roof confirmed that doughnuts at the store in High Point are brought in from a nearby Krispy Kreme. Roof said doughnuts are mixed at the Battleground Ave. location in Greensboro and taken to High Point where they're glazed. Roof says the decision is intended to streamline.

"While the North Main Street location will not be producing the doughnuts, they will still be made fresh daily and brought to the shop," Roof said in an email. 

Roof said she hasn't heard anyone mention a taste difference in the doughnuts since the change took place. It's not known whether other locations will adopt similar methods. Krispy Kreme is known for the 'Hot Now' sign in its front window, which lights up when a fresh batch of doughnuts is rolled out to be served. 

"It's the same product and made in the same way," Roof said. "We're trying to make things as efficient as we can."

The chain was acquired by JAB Holdings Inc. during the summer. Headquartered in Winston-Salem, Krispy Kreme operates over 1,000 restaurants in more than 25 countries.
