Lexington Police Identify Body Found In Wooded Area

LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Lexington Police say they have identified a man's body found in a wooded area Thursday.

Officers told WFMY News 2 discovered the unknown body at about 1:30 p.m. in a wooded area near Michael Street and National Boulevard in Lexington.

Police said they identified the body to be Jeffrey Lynn Thompson. He was reported missing to police on March 25.

The body will be sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy according to police.

Police say no foul play is suspected in this case at this time.

The investigation will continue with help from the Davidson County District Attorney's Office.
