Local Girl Wins "PitchPocalypse" Business Plan Contest

GREENSBORO, NC - A Pilot Elementary 5th grader won the ReBuildUp, LLC's "Pitchpocalypse" business plan contest along with $300 held on Sunday at the Greensboro Central Library.

10-year-old Anika Sumar's winning idea was for a line of seasonal curtains to make it easier for people to decorate during the holidays.

Anika qualified with other kids her age in the Feb. 21st ReBuildUp Course, playing a series of business mini-games and focused on economic fundamentals, idea development, and marketing tricks.

Both of the events are part of ReBuildUp LLC's "Startup Program" that helps aspiring teenagers test the waters of small business for a 3 to 6 month period with monetary, networking, accounting, and legal filing assistance.

Along with the $300 she's won to put toward her new company, Anika also got a one year membership to the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, and six months of accounting help from Michael Robinson Accounting, LLC, and free legal help from Elon University's Business Clinic.
