Local Organizations Help Those Without Power

PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. -- With many in the Triad still without power two days after the ice storm, local organizations and churches are helping those in need.

Sunday, NC Baptist Men and town officials in Pleasant Garden passed out water and made the facilities at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church available for people who needed showers.

Church officials told WFMY News 2 the church will be open again Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for anyone needing water or a shower.

Glenwood Recreation Center in Greensboro has also been open since Friday for people in the Greensboro area without power. The Red Cross says as of Sunday 47 people are currently staying there. They plan to reassess at 8 a.m. Monday morning about hours of operation. This decision will depend on the ongoing power outage situation according to their regional communications director.
