Man Arrested in May Shooting in Four Seasons Mall Parking Lot

Mall Shooter Charged With Murder

GREENSBORO - A Wilmington, NC man was arrested last weekend in connection with a shooting and killing outside Four Seasons Town Centre in May after a search that spanned three states.

Tedrick Lithonia McClary was charged in connection with the murder of 34-year-old Sherrod Maurice Crum outside the shopping center on May 4. McClary, who Greensboro police say has evaded police for years, was caught after a 30-day search that tracked him from North Carolina to Virginia to Pennsylvania.

McClary was charged with First Degree Murder. He was arrested by US Marshals on Aug. 11 and was put in a Philadelphia prison before being sent to the New Hanover prison on Saturday and served with a warrant for first degree murder. He's being held without bond.

Crum was walking outside of the JCPenney around 2:15 p.m. and hit by at least one bullet fired from a sedan, according to Greensboro police. He was pronounced dead at Moses Cone Hospital.

McClary, 25, was also wanted on federal drug and firearms charges for crimes he was accused of in New Hanover County in recent years. He was charged with outstanding warrants out of New Hanover for two counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Trafficking in Opium or Heroin, Selling Heroin and other offenses.

Greensboro police are not looking for anyone else in connection with Crum's death. A motive isn't known and the investigation is ongoing. There was also a fatal shooting at the mall in February outside the same JCPenney. That case is still open.
