Man Charged In Jewelry Store Drive-In 'Smash And Grab'

REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Reidsville Police have arrested a man who allegedly drove a SUV into Eden Jewelry and stole several items. The crime was captured on surveillance video inside the business.

Officers arrested Tony Dean Smith Jr., of Eden, Tuesday after an investigation that included other law enforcement agencies.

According to police, Smith was driving a stolen vehicle when he literally backed it into the front doors of Eden Jewelry early Monday morning.

Smith was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering along with Injury to Real Property.

Some of the stolen items have been recovered, investigators said.

Smith is also facing other possible charges from Eden Police, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, and Madison Police.

Smith is in the Rockingham County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
