Man Killed in Winston-Salem's 10th Homicide of Year

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Winston-Salem Police Department said a man's death Tuesday afternoon is the city's 10th homicide of 2014, compared to four homicides at this time last year.

Police said at approximately 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, officers arrived at a home on Bretton Street in response to a call about "unknown trouble."

A visitor to the house had called 911 after finding a man seriously injured inside the home. Officers arrived and found the homeowner--68-year-old Luther Gordon--had died of a gunshot injury.

Police have not said whether anyone is a suspect in the crime.
