Man Wanted In High Point Child Abuse Case Turns Self In

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point Police said they have arrested a man they were looking for in a child abuse case involving an infant.

Police issued warrants for Joel Rayvon Brooks on Felony Child Abuse-Serious Bodily Injury and Felony Assault Serious Bodily Injury on Thursday.

Friday, officers said Brooks turned himself in. He's currently in the Guilford County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.

The baby's mother Paige Octavia Jackson was also charged and is currently in Guilford County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.

The investigation started when officers were called by officials at High Point Regional Regional on May 25. Police were told an infant being treated at the facility had several fractures and abrasions inconsistent with the mother's explanation of how the child was injured.
