Mom Robbed, Dragged During Craigslist Exchange

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A Triad woman is recovering from minor injuries after she was robbed Tuesday afternoon during a Craigslist exchange.

"I ended up with bruises everywhere and scratches and everything, but other than that, I'm ok," said Kenny Ramirez, of Burlington.

She thought she was doing the right thing. The sun was out, she set up a Craigslist meeting in a busy Bank of America parking lot near the Four Seasons mall. She wanted to make sure there weren't any problems.

"I got out with the phone in my hand and walked to the passenger side because he was the one who had money in his hand," said Ramirez.

What she didn't know, the three teenagers sitting in the car planned to rob her. "He jumped out the window from the passenger side and snatched the phone out of my hand, but I kept gripping the phone and that's when the driver sped off," said Ramirez.

Ramirez wasn't ready to give up. "I literally got in the passenger's window and was holding onto the phone and was fighting back with them. I was trying to scratch him or anything and nothing worked."

Once Ramirez realized they weren't going to stop, she let go of the phone and fell to the ground. She has scrapes and cuts to prove it. Making this situation even worse, Ramirez had her three young children with her at the time.

They saw it happen. "They keep repeating that their mom got dragged by a car, but I try not to think about it anymore," said Ramirez.

An emotional experience for a young mother who has a strong warning for all of us. "Don't meet somebody outside that like that anymore because this could happen to anybody."

Police are looking for a green Camry or Accord. The woman was treated and released by EMS.
