NCCU: Police Chief Tim Bellamy No Longer At The University

DURHAM, N.C.-- The former police chief of the Greensboro Police Department, is now also the former police chief of North Carolina Central University.

Ayana Hernandez, Director of Public Affairs, NCCU, confirmed to WFMY News 2, Tim Bellamy is no longer an employee at the school. Hernandez said she can't elaborate on the subject and can only say Bellamy doesn't work there anymore.

NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) arrested Bellamy on Saturday, August 3 in Greensboro at a police checkpoint on E. Lee Street.

Bellamy was charged with Driving While Impaired and was placed suspension from the university after his arrest.

Bellamy, 54, worked for the Greensboro Police Department for 27 years, including three years as police chief, before going to NCCU.
