Deputies say Donald Clayton Johnson, 60, and Sandra Ross Johnson, 62, both of Boonville were arrested and charged with one count each of Felony Cruelty to Animals. They had both been previously charged with six counts each of Misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals on June 1.

Deputies said they had visited the Johnsons' farm earlier this year in May. The Jonhsons' had been advised to make changes regarding the care and maintenance of their horses.

When the Sheriff's Office followed up with them, they determined the Johnsons' had not followed their advice and the situation had gotten worse.

Wednesday, deputies said they found out one of the severely neglected horses had to be euthanized.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were placed under $15,000 each secured bond.
