Neighborhoods Evacuated After Chemical Reaction At A and D Environmental

ARCHDALE, N.C. – Emergency crews have lifted an evacuation in Archdale following a chemical reaction at A&D Environmental Services.

On Monday evening, emergency crews evacuated neighborhoods in the Uwharrie Road and other nearby areas as a precaution.

Trindale Community Church on Surrett Drive served as an emergency shelter for evacuated families. Emergency crews checked vitals for those entering the shelter.

Fire crews said the chemical reaction was sodium bicarbonate mixed with another unknown chemical. Hazmat crews have tested the air quality and have found no chemicals present.

Shawn King, CEO of A&D Environmental Services apologized to families.

The Guil-Rand Fire Department, High Point Fire Department, Randolph Fire Department, the Archdale Police Department and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office helped with the evacuations.

If you did not evacuate but want information call 336-328-6895.
