CARY, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Cary say 14 people have been displaced following a fire at an apartment complex.
Local media outlets report Assistant Fire Chief Loren Cone said the fire broke out just before midnight on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses reported large flames coming from the top of the apartment complex. The fire had spread to all three floors and into the attic of the building by the time firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported. Cone said investigators moved into the apartments shortly after sunrise Wednesday. He said the fire affected 24 apartments with either smoke, fire or water damage or loss of power.
After the inspections, 14 people were told that their eight apartments were unusable. Officials expected to allow the other 20 people return to their units on Wednesday.
