WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- One person was rescued after a structural collapse in Winston-Salem thanks to firefighters and quick acting police officers.
It happened Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. at a building located at West Fourth Street and Cherry Street.
The building was being dismantled by demolition crews when it collapsed.

Two Winston-Salem police officers who were already in the area quickly got to the building to report the emergency. The officers then discovered one worker who was trapped in the debris. The worker was trapped in the debris for 20-25 minutes before being rescued and brought to WFU Baptist Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Safety Inspectors are now investigating the building collapse.
