Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Train In Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C.-- Police in Greensboro confirm that a man was killed Wednesday morning after he was hit by a train.

The accident happened around 9:14 a.m. in the 4700 block of Hilltop Road near Fairfax and Stanley Roads. Police haven't released any other details about the accident.

Officers with Greensboro police and the Norfolk Southern Railway are conducting a joint investigation into the accident. A person related to the victim told police the man walked around the drop arm and walked onto the tracks as the train approached.

The man's identity has not be released.

Drivers who need to be in that area are advised to use alternate routes.
