Rabid Fox Attacks Man In Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Health officials say a fox that attacked a man in Burlington this week had rabies.

The Alamance County Health Department said the attack happened on Sunday on Moran Street in Burlington. Animal Control picked the fox up and it was sent to the State Laboratory of Public Health for testing where results came back positive Tuesday.

Burlington Animal Control said it received a report of a small fox in the area a few days before and had been monitoring the area. They're now advising neighbors in the area to check their pets for bite wounds that could have come from the fox.

Anyone with questions or concerns should call animal control or the health department's Environmental Health Office at (336) 570-6367.
