Randolph County Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Suspicion Of DWI

LIBERTY, N.C. -- A Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy has been charged with a DWI.

According to Trooper Knox with the Highway Patrol, Joel Coe was behind the wheel of a car that was stopped on the wrong side of the road in the travel lane on Sandy Creek Church Road in Liberty early Sunday morning.

Knox also said Coe was not on duty at the time and was in his personal vehicle. Coe took a breathalyzer and blew 0.15. The Randolph Sheriff's Office says Coe has been with them since Oct.1, 1996.

Coe was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Impaired. He’s charged with DWI and Driving Left of Center. He was given a $25,000 unsecured bond at the Randolph County Jail.
