WINSTON-SALEM — Salem College was placed on lockdown for an hour early Thursday morning after a nearby home break-in. Three men were arrested but four suspects fled, causing Winston-Salem Police to canvass the area around campus. The four suspects haven't been located.
The W-SPD say around 12:30 a.m. a group of suspects forced open a back door at a home on Maynard Drive. They entered with guns and demanded things from those inside. They then left in a red truck. An attempted traffic stop on Rams Dr. near Research Pkwy. failed to stop the truck as it continued driving west. The truck stopped on campus behind Home Moravian Church on S. Church St. where three were arrested and four escaped.
No other offenses took place at the college. All of the stolen property was recovered from the truck.
Donovan John Schlachter, Santion Antonio Bracero and Mario Gina Bracero were arrested without incident. The three were charged with First Degree Burglary, Second Degree Kidnapping and Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon. The case is still being investigated.
Anyone with information is asked to call the W-SPD at (336) 773-7700 or CrimeStoppers at (336) 727-2800.
