School System Receives $10,000 Donation For Music And Arts Programs

National Pawn Donates $10K To Guilford County Schools Music And Arts Programs

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Walking into the auditorium at Welborn Academy was an adrenaline rush with a lively guest performance by the Andrews High School marching band and the academy student’s anxiously awaiting to find out why they were there.

National Pawn NC donated 18 acoustic guitars, 100 recorders, 25 band instruments and a $2,000 check, a total estimated donation of $10,000.

This is the second instrument donation to a band program in the Triad made by National Pawn.

The band director, Connie Beane, couldn’t hold back tears of joy while thanking Moulton and his company for the donation during a speech.

The school has been trying to raise money to buy instruments, since there weren’t enough to provide to each of the students.

“Having this opportunity, it was overwhelming to hear about it and we appreciate anything we can get,” Beane said.

National Pawn and its president Bob Moulton have been committed to supporting music programs in counties where National Pawn stores are located.

Moulton too was a band member when he was younger and shared a personal experience as a former band member with the students who came from a family who couldn’t afford a brand-new trumpet at the time.

Moulton said, “The highlight of today was hearing that high school band play because I remember the high school band played at our elementary school and that’s what made me want to play in the band.”

Jeremiah Davis knows the feeling. When he hears the band play, he’s reminded of why he continues to play his trumpet.

“It’s really fun and I do it because to me it feels like, when I play the trumpet, it means everything to me,” Davis shared with a smile.
