Roads Reopen After Major Gas Leak Repaired in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem, N.C.-- Police say a major gas leak has been repaired and affected roads will reopen by 4:00 p.m. Monday.

At 2:45 p.m. | Authorities closed these roads because of a 'significant' gas leak in the 100 block of S. Cherry Street in downtown Winston-Salem.

-All business I-40 ramps that service the Cherry Street exits are closed.

-100 block of South Cherry Street is closed.

-High Street between Business I-40 and Cherry Street is closed.

Police say these roads could be closed for the next three hours or through evening rush-hour traffic.

Police called the leak 'significant' because the area affected is a  high-traffic area and the closures impacts two of the biggest exit ramps in Winston-Salem.

Police say no injuries reported and the leak is related to construction equipment.
