CBCC is a non-profit community blood center that collects blood for patients and hospitals.

Students who hold blood drives this summer will have the opportunity to earn gift cards and scholarship money for their secondary education.

"We give the students all the tools they need. They come up with 25 folks to pledge to donate blood. Then, from there, they are able to earn gift cards, "  said Larice White, a Donor Recruiter at Greensboro Blood Center. "They will also be in the running for five scholarships that we give out to the top producers of $1,000 dollars each."

Kristen Starks, a senior at Southwest Guilford High School, plans on hosting a blood drive at her church to help the community and prepare financially for college.

"I had just recently given blood. I was really happy about the experience and being able to help. I decided to host another drive and bring other people in," said Starks.

The blood drive will be held on July 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at World Victory International Christian Center in Greensboro.

"I would encourage a lot of other kids to try it. It takes some commitment on your part and some organization. But, it really is an easy way to do something that has a big impact, " said Starks. "It's something that has a huge benefit for you as well."
