GREENSBORO, N.C. -- When a disaster like Hurricane Matthew strikes, it's brave volunteers from the Triad who are called in to help.
As of Monday, 16 volunteers from the Piedmont Triad were still deployed to help with recovery efforts. The American Red Cross is looking for members of the public who are willing to lend a hand during Hurricane Matthew recovery and future disasters.
The American Red Cross will host a boot camp for community members interested in volunteering.
Participants will be qualified to respond to large disasters across the country as well as small-scale incidents in the Triad.
The training lasts two days. Classes will take place Friday, October 21 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and Saturday, October 22 from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
The class will take place at 1501 Yanceyville Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.
Registration is required. The Red Cross asks you to email your full name, email address and phone number to Anne Vestal at email@example.com.
