"We The People" Run Raises Money For State Competition

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Runners raced for a historical cause at Northwest Guilford High School Saturday morning.

The "We The People" all terrain fun run was part of a national program sponsored by the Center for Civic Education that gives students the opportunity to know their rights. Organizers say each team has researched and studied the Constitution and is preparing to compete in a mock congressional hearing that quizzes them on the document.

The funds raised from each team will be used to help pay towards the cost needed to represent the state of North Carolina in the National Championships in Washington, D.C. at the end of April. Students at Northwest placed 2nd in the state competition in Cary which earned them a spot to compete in the national finals.
