Grice went on to say Small put a shower head in a sock and assaulted a woman officer Saturday. After striking her, he stole her keys and went over the fence. Small, a 23-year-old Thomasville man, is the first inmate to escape the jail in about two years. The officer's injuries weren't life-threatening.

The Sheriff's Office says to call 911 immediately if you see Small.
