Winston-Salem City Council Approves One Transmission Tower

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem City Council approved to allow a transmission tower near New Walkertown Road Monday.

The decision came after council chose to go into a closed session to discuss the legal matters of the case. After the closed session two council members voted against the tower.

The tower will be located on the northwest side of New Walkertown Road across from Northampton Drive. It is nearly 8.12 acres of land.

Council still has three more locations to consider for transmission towers.

They include the following:

  • Northwest quadrant of US 421/Business 40 and Hastings Hill Road
  • Northwest side of Reidsville Road, north of Grover Street
  • East of Griffith Road and west of Bethel Methodist Church Lane
