Winston-Salem Open Ball Person Tryouts To Be Held July 18 And 19

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem Open will be holding ball person tryouts Friday and Saturday.

Officials say the tryouts are open to the public and will be held at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center at 100 West 32nd Street.

Friday, the tryouts will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until Noon.

Candidates must know how to keep score of tennis, be able to move quickly, be willing to endure lengthy tennis matches in the sun and work well with others on a team. You must be 13 years old by December 31 in order to qualify. (proof of age required)

All applicants are asked to attend a minimum of three of the two-hour training sessions July 30; August 4, 6, 11 and 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wake Forest University Tennis Center. You also must available for the entire Winston-Salem Open tournament and qualifying rounds August 16 through 23.

Officials say to wear appropriate athletic clothes to the tryouts and to not wear shoes with black soles. Ball persons serve as volunteers and there is no fee to apply.
