Winston-Salem Police: 9 Hour Standoff With Man In Shed Over

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- A standoff that started Friday morning around 10:20 a.m. is finally over. Police in Winston-Salem say a man barricaded himself inside a shed at a house on Ardsley Street.

For more than nine hours officers, a hostage negotiator and family members have tried to get the man out of the building. At one point police said the man fired shots, but they were not directed at anyone.

The man was threatening to harm himself throughout the entire ordeal.

People in the area were told to stay inside and others were not allowed access to their homes until now.

All streets have reopened in the area surrounding the standoff.
