Winston-Salem Power Outage Affects Traffic Lights, Hospital

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem Police reported a major power outage Wednesday morning affecting Silas Creek Parkway, Hanes Mall Boulevard and Hawthorne Road, including Forsyth Medical Center.

According to police, Forsyth Medical Center was operating on emergency power Wednesday morning.

Police asked drivers to use caution and expect delays because traffic lights are out in the area.

Some businesses in the affected area also told police they had lost power.

According to police, there haven't been any reports of incidents directly related to the outage.

Police said Duke Energy was notified of the outage and they expect power to be restored by 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
